Looking for a speaker or trainer?
Lead author Madeleine Van Hecke offers highly interactive programs based on The Brain Advantage. Three of Madeleine's programs are described below. For more information, call Madeleine at 630-341-5066 or email her at mvan@thebrainadvantage.com.

Leading With the Brain in Mind
Headlines declare that brain scans can show us what’s happening in the brain when we fall in love, tell a lie, trust or mistrust another person, take a risk, have a creative insight. One study even looked at what happens in the brain when a person experiences “compassionate” versus “judgmental” executive coaching.

The research is intriguing – but sometimes it’s not easy to see how this information applies to the workplace. In this program, Madeleine shows what you might do differently if you were to “lead with the brain in mind.” She uses insights from brain research as a take-off point, and then introduces practical strategies to help leaders make wiser decisions, solve problems more effectively, and engage their teams more successfully.

Did They Have To Come To Me For That?
How often do your subordinates come to you for help in solving problems – problems that you wish they could handle on their own? How often do you find yourself telling people what to do but wishing that they could see for themselves what needs to be done? In this program, Madeleine shows leaders practical strategies they can use to help their team members become independent problem solvers and decision makers. If you are the “go to” person in your workplace – the one that everyone else seems to turn to when challenges arise – come to learn strategies that help others feel supported while stretching them and enabling them to develop their own problem-solving abilities.

He Just Can’t See Himself!
How can you help people see themselves more realistically, without embarrassing or alienating them? How can you help them change? In this program, Madeleine presents specific strategies you can take back to the workplace to communicate with people when they are contributing to the very problems they deplore. You’ll learn how to take the sting out of negative feedback and how to change griping into creative problem-solving. You’ll learn what to say when you’re afraid that talking about a problem might make things worse. You’ll learn how to communicate so that team members and colleagues feel heard and respected even when you must disagree with them.
